Crabby Jammies Take 2

Making some pancakes with da. (He loves to measure and dump)

Would you care for some fresh cracked pepper in your pancakes madame?

Later that day...Maybe it's just the tiny fire truck he's riding on, but I'm thinking it's the major increase in his appetite lately that makes him look so big.

Crabby Jammies!

Safety First

Last night the package with Bryce's bike helmet finally came (lest you think we plan to cart him around in his chariot without one), and he's pretty excited about the new "hat". We had to take him into the store to try on a few helmets before we got it, since as I predicted, there was no way we were going to stuff him in the size that's supposed to fit his age group. I don't know if you're aware of this, because his glorious head of hair makes it less obvious, but my son was blessed with an enormous noggin. I'm going to have to take the blame on the genetics here, not that his father's dome is a small matter either.

It took me a while to figure out that the red arrow on the "front" was actually a reflector for the back, but now that he's got it facing the right way, I'm sure he'll be plenty safe while playing with these toys.

He's also a big fan of his Dodger ensemble for next year. It's a miracle when we get pictures without him wearing this hat, since he runs to get it every time I pull out the camera. That little boy in the mirror is lookin' good!

His other new favorite is stuffed animals. They get pretty good treatment around here. Free rides for everyone who fits on the car, and such.

The Rest

What you say, this awesome day of awesomeness isn't over yet? Not hardly.

We put our pumpkins out to wait for dark so that we could go out and walk around the block with our neighbors, who have a boy who is a little bit older than Bryce. All the while mommy and daddy were plotting how to get Bryce into his costume, which in all of our practice runs so far had been disastrous.

How he really feels about being a duck (at first):

So the whole costume thing was going not so swimmingly, but then the boy next door put on his costume, and miracle upon miracles, his mommy pulled out some glowsticks for us to share. Suddenly, being a duck didn't seem half bad. Plus we got to share the wagon and get pulled around door to door while (trying to) stuff our faces with candy.

I even let mommy put my duck feet on. We didn't go super far, because us boys started to figure out how to get the candy open (spoiler alert: my son may or may not have had his first candy, a Snickers, at some point during the evening), and our neighbor who was walking with us is pretty much in labor with her baby.

It was a good day!

Halloween in 2

Halloween was one of the best days Bryce has had in recent memory, not because it was Halloween, but because it went something like this:

Bryce woke daddy up early (6:20) and then they went out to the garage where Bryce got to pet the "dee" which so far he has been deathly afraid of (see pics to follow for why the deer that sometimes lives in our garage is so scary). Then daddy let Bryce play in his "guck" and even gave him the keys, which is soooo cool. Then they made waffles for breakfast.
Robo-deer: Just as scary as it sounds

After his nap, Bryce and daddy fixed up our bikes and the chariot, which we hadn't used yet due to the hot in Bakersfield. Then daddy, mommy and Bryce took a ride.

After lunch we carved pumpkins. Bryce got to pick what mommy carved into his pumpkin, but since it was too small to do the "guck" he wanted, the guck ended up on my pumpkin and his second choice, a kitty ended up on his. He is rather proud of them both. He also got to play with slimy seeds, about a hundred of which ended up on the floor (thank goodness for the Shark mop)

Bryce's pumpkin
Check out those killer eyelashes.

Making the cheesy picture face (this picture is in here for a certain person who wants to know why I am never in the blog photos)

Carving pumpkins is the best! (he can't do a thumbs up even though it sure looks like it. He is just trying to hand me a seed that is stuck to his hand)

Wait for it...there's the cheesy face again. Bryce and his pumpkins:

A word of explanation on this pumpkin, since my carving skills were not quite up to the challenge. Sadly for the art world, I have a soft spot for the little guy in the photo at left, so when he says he wants me to put "daddy's guck" on his pumpkin, I aim to please. (That is a bear in the back-it took him a while to explain to Andrew what it was because we didn't let Andrew see it til I was done and Bryce kept telling him it was a doggy. Guess maybe it looks like one)

How I Roll

So this is how the conversation went...

Bryce, how do you drive the car?
-With these keys of course mommy.

--this one right here makes the car sound, see?

Where do you put the keys?
-In the ignition of course mommy, have you never done this before?

How does the car go?
-Vroom, it goes fast!
He likes this shirt, but I figured I'd better get a picture of it while it's still white.

Punkins

Today we went to the pumpkin patch. Bryce didn't sleep well last night, so it was a bit of a disaster. We try and keep our family photo op expectations low these days due to the wiggles anyway. Plus we couldn't bear to pay that much for the pumpkins so we had to run to the grocery store and get some afterwards. By this point, Bryce seemed to recover (that's him with mommy's pumpkin)

His crow noise is possibly the most realistic animal noise he knows. It is also the noise he uses for house flies (this took me a while to figure out, but is super funny), dragonflies and other assorted flying insects.
