Little Beach Buds

Today my buddy Garrett came to the beach and he was pretty shy about the sand at first (I am used to the beach by now) but eventually we played in the sand.

I think we brought these chairs to the beach for the parents but the boys had other ideas. Bryce actually pulled Andrew out of his for this one.

Hey, why is he trying to take the ball away?

(my camera was a little hazy from the salt water)

The Beach!

We made it.

Playing with cousin Levi. (nicely at this point)

Levi and papa.

Testing out the surf with my daddy.

"The fever's gone, let's go!"

(this is from a surf movie, Bryce does not have a fever)

If Lunch Looks Like This

it must be good, and even if it is not good, it must at least be fun.

Mini-Vacation

Bryce survived his first night away from us with flying colors (I am pretty sure he didn't even miss us, with all the fun and kiddos to play with at Grannie's house). Andrew and I went to Sequoia National Park and did some hiking and took some fun artsy photos to put in our house, since that's something we like to do together, and there's still a lot of room for them on the walls. Here are a few of the not as artsy ones.

I find myself amused by taking pictures of Andrew while he is taking pictures. Possibly because he doesn't like to have pictures taken and so the ones where he is actually looking at the camera are few and far between. I call this one legless man in the forest.

And this one Andrew getting beamed up. It really was quite beautiful there and the weather was perfect.

Going to Papa and Grannie's House

Tomorrow we are going to have a long overdue very-mini vacation, while Bryce has his first overnight without us. He seems like he's ready to go. Thankfully he hasn't figured out the zipper on his suitcase yet, since it's all packed already.

Playtime Extravaganza

We have had some good play times lately (by "we" I mean Bryce playing by himself, while I can do other things).

Giving mommy five (I am pretty much the only person he will give a 5 to, which makes me feel better about all those times I tried to get him to say mama, and he said dada).

He's making a sort of scary face here, but you can see all his teeth. I try to avoid counting them now, since it is no longer safe to put my finger in his mouth, but he just got at least 2 more this week.

Serious Lego building. Also, these ones show off his pre-going to the beach haircut. I know you are thinking, exactly which ones did I cut? I have become skilled in the ninja art of making his hair not look shorter (for his dad) while still keeping it out of his eyes and ears.

Playing his trumpet. Yes this sometime looks like he's eating it.

Practicing body parts on the sing-a-ma-jig (why do kids like these? They are scary)

I think the sing-a-ma-jig is jealous of Bryce's hair.

Beach Practice

In a couple weeks we are going to the beach with Andrew's family. We've been practicing wearing a hat since it usually lasts about 35 seconds, and I'd like him to have it on a little longer than that when we get there. I think the hat also needs to be ironed, but at least it's staying on.

Meal Time

The waffles this morning were a big hit, which is good because since he was sick last time, Bryce has been a pretty picky eater (weird). His mouth is very full of waffles.

Yogurt and avocados, however are still on the good food list. We've been working on eating yogurt by himself with a spoon. It tends to be messy.

4th of July

It was super fun (except when I hurled all over my carseat in the morning). My buddy Garrett and his parents came and the Haymonds did too. We bbq'd and did lots of patriotic things like make homemade ice cream and light fireworks in the culdesac (both of these after Garrett and I were asleep).

Oh and Garrett brought his dog Bobby, who I liked very much-here I am trying to give him a ball.

Playing with toys very early in the morning when all our parents wished they were still asleep.

Big hug.

Hide and seek.

Leaning in for a hug (not trying to block Garrett from the picture). I'm not sure where all the hugging comes from-maybe the nursery at church.
